Thierry Moret is the founding partner of Blue Lakes, an independent financial boutique focused on selecting and raising capital for niche alternative investment strategies. His path to entrepreneurship started in Switzerland, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science, followed by an MBA at Thunderbird School of Global Management in the U.S.
He spent the first 30 years of his career working with Canadian investment banks—first at Bank of Montreal and later at National Bank of Canada. At the latter, he led the bank’s operations across continental Europe, gaining deep experience in international finance and building strong relationships across the industry.
About fifteen years ago, Thierry decided it was time for something new. He set out to build a smaller, more agile firm—one that could take a more personalized and independent approach to connecting capital with interesting, often overlooked investment strategies. That idea became Blue Lakes.
Today, one of the things Thierry values most is that his two children have joined the business. Working together as a family has added a new dimension to the company and brought fresh ideas and energy into the mix.
Recently, Thierry moved to Dubai to expand Blue Lakes’ reach in the Middle East and Asia. It's a new chapter, but the same focus remains: staying curious, staying connected, and helping clients navigate an ever-changing investment landscape.

After decades in large institutions, I saw a need for a more agile and independent approach to alternative investments—one that prioritizes deep relationships, sharp curation, and genuine alignment between capital and opportunity. Blue Lakes was born out of that conviction: to offer a boutique platform where we can work closely with clients and managers on strategies that don’t always make it into the mainstream.
My focus today is twofold: I support strategic relationships across our global investor base, and I lead our expansion in the Middle East and Asia. These regions offer growing demand for differentiated private market access, and our goal is to bring high-conviction, high-integrity opportunities to that audience.
Trust and continuity. Clients know who they’re dealing with—and that we’re personally invested in the long-term success of the firm and the people we work with. Having my children in the business adds a layer of alignment and purpose you can’t manufacture. It strengthens everything we do.
Alternatives used to be a niche reserved for a handful of insiders. Today, they’ve become essential to many portfolios—but the challenge is curation. There’s more product, more complexity, and more noise. Our role is to help investors navigate that, filter out the distractions, and focus on quality.
